Cameo appearance in This Spartan Life by legendary game designer Peter Molyneux, at Picnic Festival.

Dr. Gerri Sinclair survives Covenant attack to discuss gaming and education.

Thursday morning started with Xboxes, big screens and coffee. Our cameraman for the event, the French video artist Real Myop, arrived early to get the game set up. For the total Halo geeks out there, we opened the show on the back of a Scarab in the "Covenant" level. Our live events producer, Josephine Dorado was coordinating our video documentation and standing ready to assist with any virtual mishaps.

A sizable morning crowd poured into the Transformatorhuis conference hall and soon found themselves surrounded by Halo on three screens. As the blue lasers fired Real Myop and Damian dodged and weaved, and made their way to our guest, Dr. Gerri Sinclair. Gerri had some great things to say about the changing nature of narrative in the digital age as we walked up above the warring armies.

Reaching a lookout, we turned to find we had been joined by another player. Peter Molyneux, creative director of Microsoft Game Studios Europe, was at Picnic to deliver a talk on project Natal and decided to join us in Halo before walking on the stage in RL. It was one of those great mixed reality moments when avatar Gerri Sinclair introduced avatar Peter Molyneux and RL Peter walked onto stage to begin his talk.

TSL would like to extend special thanks to the Picnic crew for making this such an enjoyable event for us. We also benefited from the able assistance of Tijmen Schep and Jeroen Frans who helped videotape the proceedings for us. As the audience was seated, we showed a short Halo machinima that we shot with the help of three long time TSL forum members, Clonetrooper Kev, Lord Quagga and Lonestar. Thanks guys.
Bill Lessard wrote up a kick-ass press release which Jessica Tangelder tranlsated into Dutch and spread through the European arts community. Many thanks to you all.
