McKenzie Wark teaches media and cultural studies at the New School for Social Research and Eugene Lang College in New York City. He is the author of several books including A Hacker Manifesto (Harvard University Press) and Dispositions (Salt Publishing). Ken's current book, GAM3R 7H30RY, is presented as a networked book on The Institute for the Future of the Book's web site. Our interview with Ken was commissioned by the Institute and was previously released on their site as a companion piece to the networked book. Thanks to Bob Stein, Ben Vershbow and everyone at the Institute for the Future of the Book for bringing us together. Burnie Burns, of Rooster Teeth Productions, is the creator and the head writer of Red vs. Blue, the episodic animated series that has spread like wildfire across the Internet. Within nine months, the project went from its humble website debut to premiering at the prestigious Lincoln Center in New York City. Burnie's work has been featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, at BareNaked Ladies concerts, at the IMAX theater in San Jose, and as part of Microsoft Xbox promotions in every Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Target in the nation. When Burnie is not producing Red vs. Blue and The Strangerhood, he enjoys sleeping and not answering the goddamn phone. | |
